More frequent lessons
In 2026, the DVSA estimates that the average learner driver needs around 45 hours of professional driving lessons with a qualified instructor, plus 22 hours of private practice with family or friends, before passing the practical driving test.
Knowing that the average learner requires around 45 hours of tuition helps you estimate how long it may take to become test-ready. There are many skills to develop, and learning to drive today is far more comprehensive than it was years ago.
For example:
- 1-hour lesson each week = approximately 45 weeks (around 10 months) to complete the recommended tuition.
- 2-hour lesson each week = approximately 22–23 weeks (around 5 months).
For many learners, that's longer than they'd like to wait.
That's where frequent lessons or intensive driving courses can make a real difference. By taking lessons more often, you can build confidence, retain new skills more effectively, and become test-ready in a much shorter period.
Whether you're:
- a complete beginner,
- a partly trained learner,
- returning to driving after a break, or
- preparing to retake your test after an unsuccessful attempt,
My frequent driving courses are designed to help you progress efficiently and reach test standard as quickly as possible, without compromising on the quality of your learning.
With the DVSA's recommendation of 45 hours of professional tuition as a guide, you can begin to estimate how many hours you may need and choose a course that suits your current experience and goals.

36-Hour Relative Newcomer Course
8 weeks £2300
A 36-hour driving course is an excellent choice for many learners, whether you're relatively new to driving or returning after a break. It's designed for those who already have some experience behind the wheel and want to build on their existing skills while progressing towards test standard.
This course is ideal if you have a basic understanding of the vehicle controls and have had some practical experience, such as driving with a parent or supervising driver, or practising in a safe location. It also suits confident beginners who are ready to make steady progress.
Throughout your lessons, we'll build on your strengths, improve any weaker areas, and introduce the more advanced skills needed to become a safe, confident and independent driver. Every lesson is tailored to your individual needs, ensuring you make the best possible progress.
By taking three 90-minute lessons each week, the course can typically be completed in around 8 weeks, helping you become test-ready much sooner than with traditional weekly lessons.

27-Hour Intermediate Driving
6 weeks £1800
If you've taken driving lessons before but had a break, this 27-hour driving course is an excellent way to regain your confidence and get back on track towards passing your practical driving test.
Designed for learners who already have a good foundation of driving skills, this course focuses on refreshing what you've already learned while introducing the more advanced skills needed to reach test standard.
You'll spend your lessons reinforcing your strengths, improving any weaker areas, and refining the techniques that examiners expect to see. By the end of the course, you'll feel confident tackling more challenging situations and manoeuvres independently.
This course is best suited to learners who can already deal with basic junctions, roundabouts and pedestrian crossings with little guidance from their instructor. If that's where you are in your driving journey, this course can help bridge the gap between being a capable learner and becoming a safe, confident driver who's ready for the practical test.
With three 90-minute lessons each week, the course can usually be completed in around 5 weeks, allowing you to make rapid progress while keeping your skills fresh between lessons.
If you think the 27-hour course is right for you, get in touch by WhatsApp or email. I'll be happy to discuss your current experience and recommend the course that's best suited to your needs.

Whether it's polishing manoeuvres, improving decision-making, or overcoming habits that have been holding you back, your lessons will be tailored to your individual needs.
Not sure if you're fully prepared for your driving test? This course is designed to identify any remaining weaknesses and help you turn them into strengths, leaving you feeling confident and test-ready.
This course is ideal for learners who can drive independently in most situations, complete all reversing manoeuvres with minimal instructor input, or for those who have previously failed a driving test and want focused preparation before trying again.
9-Hour Fault Analysis Course
2 weeks £650
This is an excellent option if you've recently failed your driving test and only need to correct a few mistakes before you're fully test-ready.
If you've been driving confidently with family or friends, or you've recently taken a driving test and received only one or two serious faults, this course could be the perfect fit.
We'll focus on the specific areas that need improvement, helping you overcome any weaknesses while building your confidence in your new instructor's car. With targeted coaching and personalised guidance, you'll be well prepared to approach your next driving test with confidence.
Why Choose an Intensive Driving Course?
While the upfront cost of an intensive course may seem higher than paying for individual lessons, it can save you money in the long run by reducing the total number of lessons needed to reach test standard.
It's not just about saving time—learning more frequently is often a far more effective way to develop and retain your driving skills. With weekly lessons, it's common to spend the first part of each session recapping what you covered previously. By the time you've regained momentum, the lesson is over, and another week passes before you drive again.
With more frequent lessons—ideally three per week—you build on your progress while it's still fresh. This helps you develop good habits more quickly, improve your confidence behind the wheel, and make faster progress towards the test standard.
An intensive course also allows you to pass your driving test within weeks rather than months, making it an ideal choice if you're working to a deadline due to employment, university, travel, or other personal commitments.
Learning in close succession helps reinforce both your skills and your knowledge, reducing the frustration and anxiety that can come with long gaps between lessons. You'll gain consistency, confidence, and experience much more quickly.
Many intensive courses also include realistic mock driving tests, giving you valuable experience under test conditions and helping you feel fully prepared for the real thing.
Whether your lessons are taken daily or several times a week, regular, consistent practice is one of the most effective ways to become a safe, confident driver and increase your chances of passing first time.
Do I need to pass my theory test first?
Ideally, yes. An intensive course aims to help you learn as efficiently as possible. You'll need a valid theory test pass certificate before your practical driving test can be booked. You can still begin lessons before passing your theory test, but this may affect your course timescale and delay your practical test.
Which intensive driving course is right for me?
The right course depends on your current driving experience. Complete beginners will usually benefit from a longer course, while learners with previous experience or those who have recently failed a driving test may only need a shorter refresher course. If you're unsure, I'll be happy to recommend the most suitable option after discussing your experience.
Can I watch anything to help me?
Yes. You'll have access to my YouTube channel, which contains helpful videos covering a range of driving topics and techniques. I can also record parts of your driving lessons so you can review them in your own time, helping to reinforce what you've learned.
Who are more frequent driving courses suitable for?
Intensive and more frequent driving courses are ideal for:
- Complete beginners who want to learn quickly.
- Learners with previous driving experience who need a refresher.
- Drivers who have recently failed a driving test.
- Anyone who needs a full driving licence quickly for work, university, travel, or personal commitments.
Am I more likely to pass with more frequent lessons?
More frequent lessons provide a focused and consistent learning experience, allowing you to build on your progress without long gaps between sessions. While no instructor can guarantee a pass, my pupils consistently achieve pass rates above the national average, and many find that learning this way helps them gain confidence and become test-ready more quickly.
Do you have a list of driving test routes?
No. To make driving tests more representative of everyday driving, the DVSA no longer publishes official test routes. Test routes also change regularly. However, I have recordings covering all the roads and areas commonly used on driving tests in Trowbridge, so you'll gain experience on the routes you're most likely to encounter.
What is the minimum number of hours I can book?
My intensive courses start from 9 hours over two weeks. If you think you'll need more tuition, I recommend booking one of the larger packages, as these offer a lower hourly rate and better overall value.
Do you offer a guaranteed pass course?
No instructor can honestly guarantee that you'll pass your driving test on your first attempt. Some companies advertise "guaranteed pass" courses or offer free retests, but a much higher upfront cost often offsets these. I aim to provide high-quality tuition that gives you the best possible chance of passing the first time, without making unrealistic promises.
